SOME MEDICAL CONDITIONS ARE CONTRA-INDICATED, AND SOME CONDITIONS REQUIRE THE ADVICE OF A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

  • Narrow-angle glaucoma
  • Recent stroke
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure, meaning if you have high blood pressure but are not on blood pressure medication

Although high blood pressure is considered a contra-indication, some doctors use partial inversion to treat the condition. However, self-treatment is not recommended.

Having any of the conditions listed below does not mean you cannot invert, but check with your medical practitioner if it may be harmful to you. If they respond by saying it will not help, that may be because they do not really know. If they say it won’t cause harm, it is worth a try used with moderation and awareness of the body's responses.

  • Surgically-implanted supports, recent joint surgery
  • Glaucoma, retinal detachment, conjunctivitis, recent eye surgery
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure, hypertension (uncontrolled means if not on medication)
  • Recent stroke or transient ischemic attack
  • Heart or circulatory disorders
  • Spinal injury, recent spinal cord surgery, spinal stenosis
  • Cerebral sclerosis, acutely swollen joints
  • Osteoporosis (bone weakness), recent or unhealed fractures, medullary pins, surgically implanted surgical supports, recent joint surgery
  • Use of anticoagulants
  • Middle ear infection.
  • Extreme obesity, pregnancy.
  • Hiatus hernia, ventral hernia
  • Cerebral sclerosis, acutely swollen joints

This list is not exhaustive, so if you have any condition you are not certain about, please consult your doctor.
